Ares — 2026 Topps Chrome Marvel Comics #8
Orange Wave Refractor · 12/25
The God of War mid-charge, axe raised, skull-emblem tabard flying — set against a rippling orange chrome field that shifts as the card moves. One of the more aggressive pieces of art in the base set, and the orange finish suits it.
Numbered 12/25. Only twenty-five copies exist. Above this parallel sit just the Black /10, Red /5 and Superfractor 1/1, making this one of the four rarest tiers of the Ares rainbow.
Ares is a deep-cut for people who know their Marvel. Zeus’s son, Hercules’s half-brother, and — unusually for an Olympian — a character who walked among mortals and served on Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers. That run is exactly the kind of late-2000s Marvel that’s been getting rediscovered, and Ares cards tend to get picked up by Dark Avengers and Olympian-pantheon collectors rather than casual buyers.

Worth knowing
Why this one matters
The set
Chrome sets hold value better than base paper stock. The finish is what collectors chase and what grades well.
The parallel
Coloured refractors sit above base in every checklist. Fewer printed, harder to pull, and they photograph better.
The print run
A short print run means the supply is fixed. However many exist is however many will ever exist.
